Sadaqat-ul-fitr / Zakat-ul-fitr.

Sadaqat al-Fitr also called Zakat-ul-fitr is a duty which is wajib (required) of every Muslim, whether male or female, minor or adult as long as they have the means to do so.

The question that arise afterward is When to give ??

Sadaqat-ul-fitr is to be given on the 29th, 30th of the Month of Ramadhan or the morning before the Eid prayer.

What do we give ??

It will interest you to know that the amount of Zakat is the same for everyone regardless of their different income brackets. The minimum amount is one sa` (four double handfuls ).
You're to give 4 Handful of, Preferably the most consumed food in the community.

Most consumed ; these mean anything that the people nourish themselves with in the community like rice, maize, millet and anything similar to these.

You start to wonder why do we give out Sadaqat-ul-fitr ??

We give out Sadaqat-ul-fitr to thank Allah; to show gratitude for the blessings of Allah upon the servant regarding the breaking of the fast of Ramadhan and it Completion.

To also remove the mistakes in our fast and to help the Poor and needy celebrate Eid without having to ask anyone for food.

Who then gives ??

Every Muslim must pay it on his own behalf likewise the head of the household may pay the required amount for the other members.

Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree said: On behalf of our young and old, free men and slaves, we used to take out during Allaah’s Messenger’s (upon whom be God’s peace and blessings) lifetime one Sa` of grain, cheese or raisins”. [Sahih Muslim – English transl. vol. 2, p. 469, no. 2155]

Who do we give ??

Sadaqat-ul-fitr Is given to the poor and needy people in the community in which one who gives resides or the other community if there are no more needy one around.

Don't delay in paying your Zakat-ul-fitr in order to perfect your fasting and ibadah in this blessed Ramadan.

May Allah accept our supplications and worships and purify us from our Sins.
