A friend, an indigene of Ekiti State was trying to compare Ekiti State with Ebonyi State [both states were created at the same time] having seen some remarkable and innovative projects the latter state had just commissioned. And truth be told, whether the Land of Honour or the Fountain of Knowledge, the feats of Ekiti State on the account of growth and development haven't bespoken any of its slogans.

But my kin brothers and sisters are ready to tear me apart as I am about to ask if Ekiti State, known to be a connoisseur of professors and doctors of books has got feats of developments that are proportional to her book status? I mean, I can proudly say [though unverified] that out of every 10 households in Ekiti State, 6.5 households have AT LEAST a college of education graduate. Yet more and dismayingly, I can say expressively that there's almost nothing about modern development to show for this amazing literacy, never even when we glance at her political scenes.

To call me a bastard of the soil is the least I expect. I anticipate it because I have come too far to understand human nature and the discomfort that hearing the truth brings.

However, like I told my observing friend, we can go ahead and make excuses for everything that happens in Ekiti State. We can call it unstable governments or political parties, or call it poor revenue and allocation, or even call it anything one can think of. My simple input is that, until Ekiti humbly push aside the disillusion that she is the connoisseur of education or the fountain of it, she will keep orbing around one spot.

It might also interest you to know that, at the moment Ekiti is one of the major dens of online fraudsters or Yahoo Yahoo boys, but sadly, according to Falz (the bad guy), the son of the prominent activist, Femi Falana, we keep acting like we don't care, like nothing has happened or changed.
