Sitting down looking back, I remembered when I wrote my final year a thesis on the Present Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, The Ojaja II, I was excited to be one of the first individuals to write about the new king.

I left for Osun state, Ile-Ife hoping to meet with the king, deep down, I knew there was the possibility that I won't get comprehensive data to write extensively on the new Ooni.

Writing biographies is hard work, writing a biography of someone who is not deceased is super hard especially when he or she is young. But the stubborn me disagrees, I knew the consequences but was still determined to crawl into the deepest hole to get the work done.

After spending days in Ile-Ife with some of my course mate who were writing projects related to IFE, we were opportune to visit some of the historical places.

We visited the Oranmiyan shrine, Oduduwa grove shrine, and some other sacred places. As Christians, we were so scared but still went through, especially when we were asked to touch the Oranmiyan staff. We had to convince ourselves that
"a ko le fi ọmọ ré bọré" which means you cannot sacrifice the child of the land to the gods of the land.

After days of interviews and touring, I was able to gather facts and data but sadly, I couldn't meet the Ooni himself and still needed more data to complete my project.

Completing my project gave me so much joy, even though I got an "ela" score 😆. But the point is someone somewhere in the near future will be glad I wrote this project and will be able to correct the mistakes I made and to further develop the project for others.

It feels really awesome to do things that are not just about you. It feels great to stand for a cause, to contribute to humanity in your own little way.

The take-home is, whenever you have an opportunity to contribute, do it, even if no one praise you, praise yourself. Someone in the future is counting on you.
