It's the second day of the month
And how I wish i could write earlier
To wish you the best in this month
And the months to follow this
I wish I could have written earlier
But my mind was full of praises
And I wondered what to write
And what to leave out in my writing
I will try to write what is best
To thank you for the gift of love
And the bond we share since long ago
Of friendship, of togetherness, of love
My memories take me back to where it all started
Two strangers who met,
I believe that fate played it's part
To see you and I journey together
I won't forget how you held my back
Even when the world turned against me
Like a shadow you followed still
And whispered your whispers of courage
I owe you my flesh and life
Even when it hurt, you still persevered
You were rained on to give me shelter
Scorched by the sun to make me a shade
You are priceless, not even gold can buy you
And of all the gifts I may think of
I settle for my friendship to you
And with it, I carry loyalty
